Quick answer

How Do You Use AI In Your Job?

To use AI in your job, pick the recurring tasks that are frequent, slow, and low risk, then run each one through a simple loop: brief the AI well, let it draft, check every fact, and approve the result yourself. Learn strategy and briefing first, then workflows and measurement.

The AI Job Planner does that sorting for you. It matches your job to one of 24 job families and builds your AI starter plan from Crom Salvatera’s AI Marketing Course. You see which of your weekly tasks AI can draft, which it can assist with, and which should stay human, then the four lessons that pay off fastest for your role. Pick a main goal and the plan reorders itself around more leads, saved time, better content, or being found in AI search.

Why I built it

AI Advice That Starts With The Job You Actually Do

Most AI at work advice is a list of tools, taught in the same order to everyone. A physio, a plumber, and a marketing manager do completely different work, so the place each of them should start with AI is completely different too. I wanted a free tool that answers how to use AI in your job by starting with the two questions that matter first: how much of my week could AI really touch, and what should I learn first?

So I mapped every lesson in my AI Marketing Course against 24 job families and the tasks that fill their week. The AI Job Planner gives you that map in seconds, for free, and every plan keeps the rule I teach in the course: a person checks every piece of AI output before it reaches a customer.

24

Job families mapped

From trades, clinics, and cafés to executive assistants, SEOs, and CEOs, with 690+ job titles and common misspellings.

23

Course lessons ranked

Each lesson is ranked against the job families where it saves the most time or wins the most work.

0

AI calls when you use it

The planner runs entirely in your browser, so your AI starter plan appears instantly and nothing you type is sent to an AI model.

How To Use AI In Your Job In 5 Steps

These five steps are how to use AI in your job without wasting money or putting your reputation at risk. They work for a sole trader and for a team of fifty.

  1. Write Down Your Context

Describe your customer, your offer, and what makes people trust you. Context is what turns average AI answers into useful ones.

  2. Find Your AI-Ready Tasks

List your recurring tasks and the hours each takes. Start with work that is frequent, slow, and low risk. The planner above does this in seconds.

  3. Brief AI Properly

A strong brief gets work worth keeping first time. The nine-part CS AI Brief in the course is the one I use for every task.

  4. Check, Then Approve

Verify every fact against a primary source, edit for your voice, and have a named person approve anything that goes public.

  5. Measure Honestly

Time each task before and after, including checking time. Keep what saves hours or wins work, and turn it into a weekly workflow.

How Much Time Can AI Save In Your Job?

How much time AI saves in your job depends on how many of your hours sit in drafting, replying, summarising, and reporting, and how long it takes you to check the output. The AI Job Planner shows the hours in your week that sit in AI-ready work, based on the numbers you enter. That is the ceiling, not the saving.

Your real time back is those hours minus the time you spend briefing and checking. That is why the course measures hours saved with checking time included. A number that leaves checking out looks impressive and is wrong.

What Should AI Do In Your Job, And What Stays Human?

AI should take the middle of the work: research summaries, first drafts from a strong brief, options in volume, repurposing, and structuring plans. People should own the start and the end: choosing what to do and why, then deciding whether the output is true, right, and ready to ship.

Strategy, taste, first-hand experience, relationships, and accountability stay human. Google’s own guidance makes the same point for anything published online: it says it is critical to manually fact-check and review all AI-generated content before publishing, including titles, meta descriptions, structured data, and image alt text (Google Search Central).

How Do You Use AI At Work Safely?

Use AI at work safely by agreeing on approved tools and sorting information into levels before anyone pastes anything. Customer personal details, health information, passwords, and payment details never go into an AI tool.

AI agents that take actions on your behalf need one more rule, which I teach in the course as the two-out-of-three rule. It stops the most dangerous agent mistakes before they happen. Check your privacy obligations with your adviser, and keep a named approver for anything that leaves the business.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Using AI In Your Job

Which AI Tool Should I Start With?

Start with one general assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT on a business or team plan, and learn to brief it well. The skills in your plan work in any of them, and a strong brief matters more than the tool.

How Long Does It Take To Get Up And Running With AI?

You can move your first AI-ready task into a brief, draft, check, and approve loop this week. Your plan’s first win is built for exactly that. The AI Marketing Course runs over four weekly sessions and ends with a 90-day plan.

Will AI Take Over My Job?

AI tends to change tasks before it changes whole roles. The AI Job Planner shows how much of your week sits in AI-ready tasks, and the people best placed are the ones who can brief AI well, check its work, and prove the hours it saves.

Where Do The Example Hours Come From?

The example hours are rough estimates for a typical week in each job family, not measured data. Change them to your own numbers and your AI-ready hours update instantly.

What If My Job Is Not Listed?

Pick the closest match from the list and your AI starter plan appears instantly, with the same advice on how to use AI in your job as any listed role. Unmatched job titles are counted anonymously so they can be added to the planner.

Is What I Type Stored?

Your plan is built in your browser. The job title you type is counted anonymously in site analytics so the planner can improve. Your hours and plan stay on your device unless you ask for the PDF report.

What to do next

Turn Your AI Starter Plan Into Results

Knowing how to use AI in your job well comes down to three habits: start with strategy, run every task through brief, draft, check, and approve, and measure the hours and work it wins. Build your plan above, finish your first win this week, then add one lesson at a time.
